Waubonee Community College appoints Geneva resident as new assistant dean – Shaw Local

Waubonse Community College welcomes Jeanine McMillen, of Geneva, as assistant dean for business, technology and workforce training, according to a college press release.

McMillen has been working at the college since September 2020 as a professional writing tutor and academic coach in Academic Support Services. In addition to supporting students’ academic development with one-on-one tutoring and coaching sessions, McMillen worked with colleagues to design and facilitate the scheduling of academic webinars and served on the division’s data management team. During this time, McMillen also served as a graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Leadership, Educational Psychology, and Foundations at Northern Illinois University, while working with colleagues on a mixed-methods research study on the well -mental being of students during COVID-19. pandemic published in the Journal of American College Health.

Prior to her duties at Waubonse and NIU, McMillen was employed at Aurora University, where she taught communication and interdisciplinary courses at the School of Business and Public Policy and General Education Department.

McMillen holds a Master of Arts in Communication Studies with a major in Organizational Communication from Marquette University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Saint Louis University, where she studied creative and professional writing and studio art.

McMillen has completed her doctoral courses and started her thesis research at NIU, where she is working on a doctorate in education in higher education and student affairs.

The college board approved McMillen’s appointment at its January 19 meeting.
