Qualitative Data Manager – United States of America

Job overview:

The IRC’s Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration (RAI) department works to create opportunities for refugees and other vulnerable migrants to survive and thrive in the United States and Europe through a diverse portfolio of programs aimed at five outcomes main ones: health, safety, economic well-being, education and power. Through IRC Strategy 100, the IRC Resettlement, Asylum and Integration Programs Department will continue and expand its commitment to delivering impactful programs and services, focusing on improving program quality by giving clients greater influence over program design and delivery, making better use of research and other evidence, fueling decisions with data, and more agile and impactful program design, focused on the results. This position will support these commitments and the IRC’s data, research and evidence ambition goals by leading the development, collection and use of client feedback data, facilitating working groups on engaging customers and supporting network-wide capacity building.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, testing and deployment of a standardized customer feedback data collection tool.
  • Lead the validation process for data collection tools.
  • Facilitate client engagement working groups on topics related to IRC’s data, research and evidence ambition.
  • Code qualitative data in qualitative software (eg Dedoose, Atlas.ti, NVivo).
  • Analyze qualitative data and develop results dashboards in Power BI.
  • Conduct assessments and needs assessments using different qualitative methods, including focus groups, interviews and content analysis.
  • Build network-wide capacity to collect and analyze qualitative data by developing standard operating procedures, training resources, etc.
  • Develop guidance and training on best practices for culturally appropriate customer feedback methods.
  • Other assigned tasks.

Key working relationship:

This position is based in RAI’s Research, Analysis and Learning (RAL) Unit and reports to the Senior Measurement Manager. They will work closely with other members of the RAL, Client and Engagement, Preferred Communities and Program Offices teams.

Job requirements:

Education: Master’s degree required, in fields such as applied statistics, social sciences or information management.

Professional experience: At least 3 years of experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis (descriptive and inferential); develop and validate data collection tools; and conduct project evaluations (preferably projects for refugee or displaced populations).

Skills and competences:

  • Project management skills.
  • Experience in developing customer feedback mechanisms and tools.
  • Understanding of data fairness principles.
  • Strong qualitative data analysis skills.
  • Capability with Dedoose, Atlas.ti, NVivo or similar software.
  • Capability with Power BI or similar software.
  • Experience with various qualitative data collection methods (e.g., in-depth interviews, focus groups)
  • Experience in conducting needs assessments and ideally contextual assessments
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Ability to set up mobile data collection systems is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate results, including data visualization.
  • Strong attention to detail (excellent proofreading and editing skills).
  • Ability to work flexibly both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
