Fiona Blades is the new chair of the Market Research Council

In the United States, the Market Research Council named MESH Experience founder Fiona Blades as this year’s president.
Founded in 1927, the Council is a premium membership organization that aims to provide a focal point around which “distinguished marketing research professionals can gather for the development and advancement of their mutual interests”. Originally meeting at the Harvard Club in New York, it moved to the Yale Club thirty years ago.
Past presidents have included poll star George H. Gallup (1934-1935), Rena Bartos (1991-2), one of America’s first female advertising executives, and David F Poltrack (1995-7), the leader of CBS who recently retired. after 50 years of activity.
Blades (pictured), who moved to New York six years ago, succeeds former Geopath president Kym Frank, who now serves as Global Chief Experience Officer at Motionworks International. Blades says she aims to retain the values and essence of the Council, while making it more representative of the RM industry. It plans to expand its footprint, first by opening doors to young “change makers”; second, by extending the call to broader specialties of the MR ecosystem such as AI, technology and data science; and third, increase the geographic reach of the United States toward a more global presence. His “grand initiative” will be to develop the executive leadership program of the CRM.
